Estate Manager - Immediate Start (Temporary Contract)

Location: Newquay, Cornwall

Reports to: Director of Operations

Contract: Temporary Assignment (Minimum 1 Month, Expected 8+ Weeks)

Pay Rate: Β£22.94 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (4:30pm finish on Fridays)

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Estate Manager to join their team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone between roles, semi-retired, or an experienced estates professional looking for an immediate start.

The successful candidate will oversee the management, maintenance and compliance of a varied portfolio of public buildings, facilities and open spaces, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.

A full UK driving licence is essential as occasional travel between sites may be required.

Shift Pattern

  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:00am - 5:00pm (4:30pm finish on Fridays)
  • Immediate start available
  • Temporary contract with a minimum commitment of 1 month
  • Likely to extend beyond the initial period
  • Occasional out-of-hours, weekend or evening work may be required to support operational needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across buildings, public facilities and open spaces
  • Manage contractors, monitor workmanship and ensure projects are completed safely and to a high standard
  • Ensure statutory inspections, compliance checks and maintenance schedules are completed and documented
  • Support the delivery of health & safety procedures, risk assessments and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate building repairs, emergency works and infrastructure improvement projects
  • Monitor property and asset compliance records, inspection logs and audit trails
  • Support public space improvements and operational estate management activities
  • Liaise with contractors, stakeholders, community groups and internal departments
  • Assist with budget monitoring, obtaining quotations and ensuring value for money
  • Handle service-related issues and support the delivery of high-quality public services
  • Deputise for senior management when required

Person Specification

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience within Estate Management, Facilities Management, Property Management or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and property compliance requirements
  • Experience managing contractors and overseeing maintenance projects
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple sites effectively
  • Confident dealing with stakeholders, contractors and members of the public
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience maintaining compliance records and service schedules
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Essential Qualifications

  • IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (or working towards)
  • Relevant experience within estates, facilities, property or asset management
  • Good working knowledge of compliance requirements including risk assessments and statutory inspections

Desirable Qualifications

  • Trade qualification such as Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry or similar
  • Experience working within Local Government, Public Sector or Community Services
  • Knowledge of asset management systems and compliance registers
  • First Aid or Emergency Response training
  • Experience working alongside contractors using RAMS and CDM regulations
