The Best Connection are currently recruiting for a Technical Bakery Assistant for our client in Market Drayton, Shropshire. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy bakery that specialises in producing hand crafted cakes and desserts for the hospitality industry throughout the UK.
Pay rate: £13 per hour but can be negotiated depending on experience. This will be 35 hours per week and working hours can be discussed to find around the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:- Check and improve safety and quality control procedures in your own bakeries, from the raw material stage through to finished product.
- Conducting quality control checks.
- Microbiological duties and online inspections of products ensuring compliance in accordance with customer specifications.
- Carrying out GMP / housekeeping / Quality audits to ensure compliance and assisting with preparation for external audits when required.
- Audit suppliers and manage internal audits.
- Deal with any customer complaints.
- Compile, check and approve product specifications and labelling for each product.
- Develop the ability to repeat processes to ensure consistency and safety.
- Liase with technical and commercial colleagues in procurement, sales, technical services and marketing and distribution, and with official food inspection and hygiene agencies.
- Assist with NPD ensuring that all activities produce safe and legal products.
- Technical or Food Related Qualification OR proven relevant experience.
- Understanding of HACCP principles.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Competent in record keeping.
- Motivated with ability to work on own initiative.
- Able to solve problems analytically.
- Computer literate.
- Foundation certificate in Food Technology.
- Previous experience working in the food industry.
- Experience of BRC and/or Retailer Audits.
- Food hygiene qualification.
- Ability to complete quality checks on products throughout the process and ensure that finished product is to customer specification.
