The Best Connection are recruiting for an experienced Tractor Driver on behalf of Mansfield District Council. This role sits within the Parks & Open Spaces team and involves the maintenance of parks, cemeteries, open spaces, and highway verges across the district. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong horticultural knowledge and machinery experience.
Training dates: 11th and 12th of June.
Start date: 15th of June.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate large tractors and a wide range of tractor-mounted equipment
- Carry out grass cutting of large open areas using gang mowers and associated machinery
- Perform routine vehicle checks (oil, water, battery, cleanliness, and overall serviceability)
- Collect and remove rubbish and waste from parks and cemeteries
- Undertake general labouring duties, including:
- Hedge cutting
- Shrub and rose bed maintenance
- Kerb removal
- Fence repairs
- Support seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, transporting bark chippings, ground slitting, and assisting the tree team
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and safe working practices
- Deliver a high-quality service in line with Council standards

- Knowledge of fine turf or sports turf horticulture
Pay and Working Hours
Pay: £13.69 per hour
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 3:00pm (32 hours per week).

- Experience operating both small and large tractors
Desirable:
- Experience using 180-degree and 360-degree excavators
Qualifications
Essential:
- NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence in Tractor Driving
- Full UK Driving Licence

- Certification for 180/360-degree excavator operation
Additional Information
This role involves driving; DVLA licence checks will be required. Candidates must adhere to all Council policies, procedures, and working practices. The successful candidate will be required to complete relevant training and adapt to digital systems where necessary.
