The Best Connection are currently recruiting for an experienced Structural Steel Administrator to join a well-established fabrication business. This is a key office-based role, working closely alongside the General Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of the business. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining continuity across operations, particularly when the General Manager is off-site or on annual leave. Acting as a central point of communication between clients, suppliers, and the workshop, you will help ensure projects run efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Client & Communication Management
- Answer incoming calls and handle client enquiries professionally
- Respond promptly to emails and general enquiries
- Liaise with clients regarding ongoing and upcoming works
- Provide updates, follow-ups, and coordinate communication between all parties
- Communicate with suppliers regarding orders, pricing, and deliveries
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers
- Chase deliveries to ensure materials arrive in line with project timelines
- Support the General Manager with daily business operations
- Ensure continuity of work during periods when the General Manager is off-site
- Maintain organisation of project documentation and job files
- Monitor stock levels of steel, consumables, and materials
- Place orders as required to meet project demands
- Ensure materials are ordered in line with timelines and specifications
- Liaise with welders and fabricators on the shop floor
- Communicate job requirements, priorities, and updates effectively
- Assist with coordination between office and workshop operations
- Maintain and update internal systems, spreadsheets, and records
- Track orders, deliveries, and material usage
- Support the implementation and upkeep of company processes and systems
Key Skills & Experience
- Experience within construction, fabrication, or structural steel (preferred)
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Understanding of materials, stock control, or procurement processes (advantageous)
- Competent with Microsoft Office and general IT systems
