The Best Connection Group Ltd are currently recruiting for an experienced Coded Welder to join a specialist industrial boiler repair team working at customer sites throughout the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled welder with experience in the commercial and industrial boiler industry who is looking for a permanent role with nationwide work, overtime opportunities, and ongoing training.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance to industrial steam boilers at customer locations across the UK. Due to the nature of the work, flexibility and a willingness to work away from home when required are essential. Welding work is predominantly carbon steel MMA (stick welding) using low hydrogen electrodes, and applicants should ideally hold 6G coded welding experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Retubing industrial boilers
  • Cutting out and carrying out D-patch repairs
  • Tube plate replacement
  • Coded welding of pipework and pressure vessels
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures and current legislation
  • Completing paperwork and electronic records accurately and on time
  • Supporting the development of colleagues through knowledge sharing
  • Liaising with customers, inspectors and site personnel as required

Weld Test Requirement

As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to complete a weld test consisting of:

  • 14mm overhead plate weld
  • 7016 low hydrogen root run
  • 7018 low hydrogen fill and cap
  • Full penetration weld MMA (stick welding) only

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience within the commercial or industrial boiler industry
  • Coded welding experience (6G preferred)
  • Strong MMA welding skills with low hydrogen electrodes
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within an industrial or commercial engineering environment
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday Core hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm Flexibility required to meet customer demands Overtime and weekend work may be available.
