The Best Connection are delighted to be recruiting an Apprentice Machinist on behalf of our long-established and reputable client based in Forest Row. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the construction industry, learning specialist skills and machinery operation from experienced professionals.
The successful candidate will join a friendly and hardworking team, receiving full training on a range of saw, planing and moulding machinery, with excellent opportunities for progression and salary growth.
Location: Forest Row
Industry: Construction
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, plus rotational Saturday, 8am to 1pm work in the yard.
Pay: £29,741.40 per annum
Responsibilities of the Apprentice Machinist:
- Learning how to safely operate the machinery.
- Cutting, preparing and processing products to specification.
- Assisting with the handling and movement of timber throughout the workplace.
- Working as part of a small team to ensure production targets are met.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety.Supporting yard operations and customer requirements when required, including Saturday yard duties.
- Keeping work areas clean, safe and organised.
Requirements of the Apprentice Machinist:
- Ideally experience operating machinery
- Ideally experience operating Counterbalance Forklifts but not essential
- Good understanding of timber products and machining processes (ideal but not essential)
- Ability to read and follow instructions from sales orders
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
- Able to work independently and use own initiative
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
- Full UK driving licence required
