Our client is a growing and well-established structural steel fabrication company delivering high-quality steelwork across a variety of sectors. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an experienced Steel Fabricator to join their busy production team in Cwmbran. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled fabricator seeking long-term employment with opportunities for overtime, development, and progression.
The Role
As a Steel Fabricator, you will be responsible for manufacturing structural steel components from detailed engineering drawings. The role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricating structural steelwork to specification
- Reading and interpreting fabrication and engineering drawings
- Measuring, marking out, cutting, drilling, and assembling steel sections
- Preparing and fitting components for welding
- Operating workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality
- Working closely with welders and production staff
- Ensuring a safe, clean, and organised working environment
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in structural steel fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience using fabrication tools, machinery, and workshop equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Reliable and positive approach to work
Desirable Skills
- Basic MIG/MAG or FCAW welding experience
- Overhead crane licence
- Forklift experience
- Previous experience within a heavy engineering or structural steel environment
