Machine Operator / Machine Setter Required!

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Pay: £13.20 per hour

Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00AM-20:00PM

Shift: 10-hour shifts with a 40-minute unpaid break

Job Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm

We are currently recruiting for a Machine Operator / Machine Setter to join a friendly and welcoming manufacturing team based in Chelmsford on a temp-to-perm basis.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous machine operating or manufacturing experience who is looking for a stable, Monday-to-Friday position within a supportive and relaxed working environment.

As a Machine Operator / Machine Setter, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating a variety of production machines to ensure they are running safely, efficiently and to the required production standards.

You will receive full training and each day you will have the opportunity to work with and learn about different machines and production processes.

Your duties will include:

• Operating and monitoring production machinery throughout the day.
• Observing machines to ensure they are running correctly and identifying any faults or issues.
• Carrying out basic adjustments and minor fixes when required.
• Using basic hand tools such as spanners, Allen keys and screwdrivers to resolve straightforward machine issues.
• Being trained to identify and rectify faults quickly to help maintain production levels.
• Completing production and specification sheets accurately.
• Recording batch numbers and production information to ensure products can be fully tracked.
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure products meet the required standards.
• Performing randomised weight checks on batches to ensure machines are operating to the correct specifications.
• Checking products for defects or faults throughout the production process.
• Packing and boxing products ready for dispatch when required.
• Using a pallet truck to move pallets and products around the facility where necessary.
• Keeping your work area clean, organised and safe.
• Working independently for much of the day while also being part of a friendly and supportive team.
• The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience in machine operating, machine setting or a manufacturing environment.
• Ideally, at least 2 years' experience in a similar role.
• A very good attendance and timekeeping record.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow production specifications.
• A practical and hands-on approach to work.
• The ability to work independently and remain focused throughout the working day.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Mechanical knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided. You should, however, be comfortable using basic hand tools and have a practical approach to resolving straightforward problems.

• Working Environment
• This is a friendly, welcoming and supportive working environment. The role is predominantly independent, allowing you to focus on your machines and responsibilities, while still being part of a wider team.
• You will be on your feet for most of the working day, monitoring machines and carrying out production and quality checks.
• No two days will necessarily be exactly the same. You may spend one day primarily monitoring a particular machine, while another day could involve learning how to operate a different machine, packing products or carrying out additional quality checks.

• Full Training Provided
• If a machine develops a fault, you will be trained on how to identify the issue and, where appropriate, carry out a straightforward repair or adjustment to get the machine operating again as quickly as possible.
