We are recruiting for a well-established engineering company providing a fully comprehensive subcontract machining and assembly service, including retooling and re-engineering solutions for customers across a wide range of industries. Known for our precision, quality, and problem-solving approach, we support both one-off and small-to-medium batch work to exacting standards.
The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Jig Borer to join our clients skilled machining team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for producing high-precision components to tight tolerances, supporting both new and legacy tooling, and contributing to re-engineering and improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, operate, and maintain jig boring machines to produce precision components
- Work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications
- Manufacture tooling, fixtures, jigs, and precision parts to tight tolerances
- Support retooling and re-engineering projects
- Carry out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and housekeeping
- Collaborate with other machinists and engineers to meet customer requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience operating jig borers (manual and/or CNC, depending on your setup)
- Strong understanding of precision machining and tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Competent with measuring equipment (micrometers, bore gauges, DTI, etc.)
- A methodical approach with strong attention to detail
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred
