The Best Connection is currently seeking a skilled and reliable Butcher to join a well-established meat production facility based in East Grinstead.
Industry: Food Production
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 12:00pm - 10:00pm (45 hours per week) 1 hour lunch break
Pay: £13.50 per hour, however this rate is negotiable depending on relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities of the Butcher:
- Cutting, trimming, and preparing meat to production standards
- Boning and processing wholesale cuts into steaks, chops, roasts, and other products
- Ensuring all products meet strict food safety, quality, and legal standards
- Working as part of a team to meet production targets and maintain stock levels
- Supporting production changes and learning new skills as required
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment
- Debagging and preparing raw materials for processing
- Defrosting meat in line with company procedures
- Preparing primal cuts based on order specifications
- Mincing, dicing, and strip-cutting meat
- Operating machinery such as band saws and mincers (where trained)
- Producing items including sausages, burgers, kofta, and meatballs (training provided)
- Accurately processing and completing orders
- Using computer systems to print labels
- Managing waste in line with strict procedures
- Conducting quality checks on finished products
- Reporting and resolving any production issues
- Identifying potential problems with raw materials or finished goods
- Carrying out cleaning duties throughout all stages of production
Requirements of the Butcher:
- Previous butchery or meat production experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a variety of tasks
