The Best Connection is looking for an experienced Class 2 Driver to join the largest privately owned UK stockholder of stainless steel Long Products. This is a temporary to permanent position with a competitive pay rate and the opportunity to secure a permanent position after a trial period.
Duties and pay for the Class 2 Driver
- £15.00 per hour, 50 hours per week Monday - Friday
- Salary circa £42,000 per annum for suitable candidates when permanent
- Start time 5am Monday - Friday
- Operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle to collect and deliver goods - stainless steel products or other material from the warehouse to customers or other sites.
- Follow pre-planned delivery routes, doing multi-drop runs where several customers are served in one shift.
Vehicle Checks & Compliance for the Class 2 Driver
- Perform vehicle safety checks before and after driving.
- Report any defects or maintenance issues.
- Ensure compliance with driver regulations (tachograph, CPC, driving hours).
Paperwork & Administration for the Class 2 Driver
- Complete delivery paperwork accurately (e.g., proof of delivery, logs).
- Use handheld devices or systems to track progress and capture signatures.
Customer Interaction for the Class 2 Driver
- Represent the company professionally when greeting customers.
- Help unload deliveries if required and ensure goods are safely delivered to the correct location.
