The Best Connection are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Barnsley-based business for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to take responsibility for a large fleet operation. This role will oversee the day-to-day management of approximately 200 vans and 14 HGVs operating under a National Operator's Licence, ensuring compliance, efficiency and high operational standards.
Duties Include:
- Managing the daily transport operation and vehicle fleet
- Ensuring compliance with Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation
- Overseeing driver compliance, tachographs and vehicle records
- Managing vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections and PMIs
- Liaising with the in-house workshop team to minimise downtime
- Monitoring fleet performance and identifying operational improvements
- Producing reports and maintaining accurate compliance records
- Supporting and managing drivers and transport staff
Requirements:
- Transport Manager CPC qualification (essential)
- Previous transport or fleet management experience
- Strong understanding of transport compliance and legislation
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
