We are looking for a Class 2 Driver with Groundworker experience who is willing to be trained up on ALLMI HIAB to join our construction and installation team. This is a hands-on site-based role, ideal for someone with experience in highways, civils, utilities, water works, or major infrastructure who understands physical site work and isn’t afraid of manual labour. This is not just a driving job - you’ll be working on-site alongside the installation team.
Pay Rate: £16.00-£17.50 per hour (depending on experience)
The Role:
- You’ll transport equipment and materials to sites nationwide and assist with the installation and removal of street furniture such as bus shelters and digital advertising screens.
- This role involves manual labour including digging, lifting, breaking out, and groundwork.
- Nationwide travel required.
- Regular overnight stays (accommodation & reasonable expenses provided).
- Full-time, permanent PAYE position (initial trial period applies).
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving HGV Class 2 vehicles in line with legislation.
- Loading, unloading, and securing materials and plant.
- Groundworks including digging, breaking out, lifting, and site preparation.
- Assisting with installations and removals on live sites.
- Working in live highway environments.
- Operating HIAB equipment using hook attachment (when completed HIAB training).
- Daily vehicle checks and defect reporting.
- Maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards.
Requirements:
- Essential:
- Full UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
- Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tachograph card.
- CSCS card (will provide training or refresher course if had one before).
- Experience in highways, civils, utilities, water works, or similar site environments.
- Comfortable with physically demanding groundwork and manual labour.
- Willing to work away from home when required.
- Reliable, hard-working, and team-oriented.
- Must be willing to complete HIAB training.
- Highly Desirable (but not essential):
- NRSWA accreditation.
- Experience on major infrastructure projects (e.g., HS2).
