Pay: £13.57 per hour

Overtime: Flat rate

Hours: Monday - Friday | 10:00 - 19:00

Breaks: 30-minute unpaid break

Weekly Hours: 42.5 hours per week

The Best Connection Tamworth are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a busy business within the logistics industry in Tamworth. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and previous transport planning experience within the transport and logistics industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner looking to work within a fast-paced logistics environment, supporting trunking operations and delivery route planning across the UK pallet network.

Job Role – Transport Planner (Logistics Industry)

As a Transport Planner in Tamworth, you will be responsible for managing and optimising daily transport routes within the logistics industry, ensuring high service levels, efficient vehicle utilisation, and compliance with transport legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and optimising daily trunking and delivery routes
  • Managing hub runs and local delivery schedules
  • Allocating consignments based on postcode, service levels, and network cut-off times
  • Adjusting routes in real time to manage delays, breakdowns, and volume changes
  • Liaising with depots to ensure network KPIs and schedules are achieved
  • Producing accurate manifests and load sequencing
  • Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours and Working Time Directive regulations
  • Supporting drivers with briefings, issue resolution, and daily communication
  • Working closely with warehouse and customer service teams

Requirements (Essential)

  • Previous route planning or traffic office experience
  • Strong UK geography and postcode knowledge
  • Understanding of drivers' hours and transport compliance
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience using transport planning systems
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy logistics environment

Desirable

  • Pallet network experience
  • Knowledge of trunking and hub-and-spoke operations
  • CPC qualification or strong transport compliance knowledge
  • Full UK driving licence due to location
