The Best Connection is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Class 1 HGV Driver (Skip Wagon) to join a well-established waste management and recycling business in Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and reliable driver looking for long-term employment with a varied role, regular weekday work, and the opportunity to secure a permanent position.
About the Role
As a Class 1 HGV Driver, you will be responsible for operating skip wagons, carrying out skip deliveries, collections, and exchanges at customer sites. Due to varying site opening times and workload demands, start times and daily hours may differ from day to day. The successful candidate will be comfortable working flexible hours and committed to delivering excellent service while maintaining high safety standards.
Your Duties Will Include:
- Carrying out skip deliveries, collections, and exchanges across customer sites
- Operating Class 1 HGV skip wagons safely and efficiently
- Loading and unloading skips using hooks and chains
- Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
- Communicating effectively with transport managers and site personnel
- Adhering to all road traffic legislation, health and safety procedures, and company policies
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with driver regulations
What We're Looking For:
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous skip wagon experience preferred
- Experience operating rigid vehicles and drawbar trailers preferred
- Flexibility with start times and working hours
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude
- Excellent understanding of driver hours and vehicle safety requirements
- A reliable and hardworking approach to work
