Our Trailside Ambassador volunteers at NDC engage with the public by walking the trails talking to people about nature. Our ambition is to excite people about the habitat and occupants at the Nature Discovery Centre, provoke their passion and inspire people to protect the place and the nature within it.

This role also serves as our eyes and ears of the trails. Our Trailside Ambassador volunteers are observant of any invasive species that we have and inform us of any work that needs doing e.g. fences, Himalayan Balsam growing, streams overflowing, litter issues etc.

In this volunteer role you would set up a trailside station (kits provided) and engage visitors as they wander past. This will involve talking about local species and fun facts, offering advice on where to walk in the local area and answering any questions about the Nature Discovery Centre.

Your time commitment would be very flexible; we would ask for a few hours a month to make the most of your training. Weekends and school holidays are very appreciated.
