A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Engineer to join the Technical Services team at The Berkeley and The Emory. With an independent spirit and an eye for style, The Berkeley is the epitome of modern British luxury. Rooms are furnished by leading designers, and The Berkeley is perfectly positioned between Hyde Park, fashionable Knightsbridge and the residential neighbourhood of Belgravia. Its signature experiences include the famed Blue Bar, The Berkeley Bar & Terrace, and our Berkeley Café.
As a Shift Engineer, you will provide technical support to the hotel while on shift, ensuring hotel standards are maintained at the highest level. You will carry out and coordinate day-to-day repairs and maintenance of the mechanical & electrical equipment and building engineering assets, including Fire, Life & Safety systems equipment.
Main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring and maintaining equipment within the building so they are kept in good operational working order.
- Dealing with any issues immediately or reporting to the Line Manager when repairs cannot be performed.
- Responding to any lift breakdowns promptly, ensuring callouts are recorded, if attendance of contractors are out of agreed times, inform Duty Manager & Technical Services Line Managers.
- Issuing accurate permits for all contractors on site and signing off on work completion.
- The upkeep of all the Plant Rooms boiler house and Swimming pools by regularly planned inspections of these areas and taking necessary corrective or preventive actions as required.
- Monitoring cooling tower, chemical treatment plant and temperature as per provided procedures with any out of specification results being dealt with and any faults reported to your line manager.
- Assist the guest with any requests they might have whilst staying in the hotel.
- Ensuring all electrical appliances are visually safe and report any defects to the Front Office Team.
- Carry out routine maintenance on all AC condensers, FCUs and refrigeration units.
- Contribute in maintaining an excellent level of service in conjunction with the minimum requirement of the LQA and Forbes standards at all times.
