How to prepare for a job interview at The Berkeley Scott Group

Know Your Culinary Skills

Make sure you brush up on your cooking techniques and any specific cuisines you might be asked about. Be ready to discuss your previous experience in the kitchen, especially during night shifts, as this will show your ability to handle the unique challenges of working late.

Highlight Your Hygiene Knowledge

Since a Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred, be prepared to talk about your understanding of food safety standards. Share examples of how you've maintained hygiene in past roles, as this will demonstrate your commitment to keeping the kitchen safe and clean.

Show Your Independence

As the role requires working independently, think of instances where you've successfully managed tasks on your own. Discuss how you stay organised and efficient during quieter hours, which will reassure them that you can handle the responsibilities without constant supervision.

Be Punctual and Reliable

Reliability is key for a night chef, so make sure to emphasise your punctuality and commitment to showing up for shifts. You might even want to mention any strategies you use to ensure you're always on time, as this will reflect positively on your work ethic.
