Four mates. One back-garden barbecue that got out of hand. A burger that came second in the world.

That was 2011. Now there are eight Beefy Boys restaurants and over 400 of us. Our kitchen in Cheltenham is busy from open to close, and it's the perfect place to learn.

Here’s the job.

We do things properly here: Hereford beef aged for 21 days and ground fresh every morning, buns baked daily by a local baker, and house favourites like our chilli sauce and pastrami made from scratch.

You'll prep, cook and learn every section, from smashing patties to building burgers that look as good as they taste.

On a busy night, everyone mucks in, head chef included.

And if burgers are waiting on the pass while the floor's flat out, whoever's free runs them, so every guest gets theirs hot.

You’ll fit right in if...

you've got a bit of kitchen experience, or a catering qualification and loads of enthusiasm.

You want to learn, you can take feedback and you care about getting it right every time.

The honest bit.

It's fast, hot and busy, and every burger has to be spot on, even when the tickets are stacking up.

If that sounds stressful, this isn't for you.

If it sounds exciting, you're our kind of chef.

So, what's the pay?

Nobody works for free, so let's be upfront.

And honestly?

It's good.

You'll get up to £13.50 an hour, plus your full share of tronc.

It goes up and down with how busy we are, but last year it added an average of £4 an hour, depending on the site.

Prep starts at 9am and we close at 9.30, so no 6am starts and no 2am finishes.

What else you get.

All the stuff you'd expect is here: holiday, a pension, free food every shift and money off when you bring your mates in.

Plus wellbeing support, including a GP and mental health support, and we close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

But ask anyone who's been here a while and they'll tell you it's the people.

Chefs who'll teach you properly, training across all our sites, and two staff parties a year, including our summer festival.
