About The Role
The main purpose of the role is to supervise and lead a small team of operators, being responsible for the set up and operation of the packing facility within production.
Hours
- Monday – Thursday: 06:30am–16:30pm (includes 30 minutes paid lunch break).
- Friday: 06:30am–15:00pm (includes 30 minutes paid lunch break).
- Hours may be variable dependent on business needs.
Role & Responsibilities
- Coordinate the activities of Packers that are packing products and manage the shift in that department.
- Ensure production / packing targets and quality standards are consistently met in line with the company KPI’s.
- Completion of paperwork and data entry on time and in detail, to agreed reporting structure.
- Lead and develop the team to ensure staff met their potential and build a strong skills pipeline for the business.
- Liaise with the Shift Manager to ensure that any deviation or changes in production requirements are communicated and carried out accordingly.
- Preparation of labels for the next working day production.
- The control of WIP stock - keeping this to a minimum and ensuring this gets reworked with the timelines.
- Control breaks and staff rotation in the packing department.
Food Safety, Health & Safety/HRA
- Ensure daily compliance with all Health and Safety, Food safety and GMP requirements.
- Drive a positive H&S culture by leading by example and accepting zero tolerance for unsafe behaviours and practices. Report any Health and Safety issues onsite to the Site Manager.
- Ensure excellent standards of hygiene are maintained and drive a GMP culture.
- To own the training plan for the team, with the support of the Shift Manager. Ensuring multi-skilling and adequate cover for all key roles by creating sufficient capacity for individuals to train and develop in line with the needs of the business.
- Ensure all food hygiene and safety (and other relevant) policies, procedures, practices and standards are always adhered to on the packing line, taking remedial action and/or escalating issues in a timely manner to meet the agreed standards to your Shift Manager.
- Staff only to operate machinery if they fully trained and signed off.
