Location: Tresham College – Wellingborough Campus

Salary / Benefits: Salary between £25,467 and £28,482 per annum (DOE & qualifications), 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension, discounts, professional development opportunities, access to college courses.

Hours / Weeks: 40 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the Role: We are currently seeking an Estates and Facilities Assistant to join our Estates and Facilities department at The Bedford College Group. As an Estates and Facilities Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Facilities Operations & Site Services: Deliver a full range of estates services including security, maintenance, portering, cleaning and driving to ensure a safe, well‑maintained campus environment.
  • Security, Safety & Compliance: Conduct site patrols, monitor CCTV, manage building access, perform ID checks and support fire, alarm and statutory compliance activities in line with policies and procedures.
  • Maintenance & Grounds Upkeep: Undertake minor repairs, maintain buildings and equipment, manage grounds and external areas, and ensure safe access during adverse weather conditions.
  • Portering, Logistics & Event Support: Provide portering services, manage deliveries, set up rooms, support events, and respond to online service requests to meet operational needs.
  • Professional Practice, Flexibility & Team Contribution: Work collaboratively across campuses, uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety standards, provide flexible cover (including weekends) and support wider college activities.

About You:

  • Experience, Training & Operational Readiness: Experience working with the public and young people, willingness to undertake training and develop knowledge of health and safety and college procedures.
  • Teamwork, Initiative & Problem Solving: Able to work independently and as part of a team, use initiative, follow procedures and contribute positively while resolving issues proactively.
  • Communication, Behaviour Management & Professional Conduct: Confident in handling a wide range of situations, including de‑escalating challenging behaviour calmly, while maintaining professional relationships and boundaries.
  • Reliability, Flexibility & Responsiveness: Reliable and punctual with a flexible approach to working patterns, including weekends and short‑notice availability to meet operational needs.
