Salary/Benefits: Salary is between Β£33,048 and Β£38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacherβs pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. About the role:
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Sport to join our Sport department at The Bedford College Group. As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Course Leadership & Teaching: Lead Sports and Esports courses (Levels 1β3), deliver engaging lessons, assess student work, and support learners to reach their full potential.
- Curriculum Development & Innovation: Develop schemes of work, contribute to curriculum growth, and implement vocational opportunities such as employer links and guest speakers.
- Student Support & Progress Monitoring: Provide tutorials, track progress, maintain records, and ensure students meet academic standards and deadlines.
- Quality Assurance & College Engagement: Implement quality processes, participate in team meetings, support open days and events, and uphold TBCG policies and values.
- Statutory Duties & Professional Conduct: Promote safeguarding, equality, and health and safety; engage in CPD; and maintain a professional, student-focused approach across all campuses.
About you:
- Qualifications & Subject Expertise: Relevant qualification in Sport at least one level above teaching level, plus a recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed).
- Teaching Experience & Knowledge: Strong understanding of Sport education, recent FE teaching experience, and ability to deliver engaging lessons across Sport and Esports subjects.
- Professional & Technical Skills: Excellent communication, organisation, classroom management, IT proficiency (including Microsoft Office), and ability to handle sensitive data confidentially.
- Personal Attributes & Working Style: Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in teams, manage pressure, meet deadlines, and build professional relationships.
- Commitment & Compliance: Demonstrates alignment with TBCG values and policies, including safeguarding, equality, and health & safety; flexible working approach and willingness to travel across campuses.
