Location: Shuttleworth College – Old Warden
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note: Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Agriculture to join our Land-based Education department.
- Agriculture Teaching & Practical Instruction: Deliver high-quality practical and theoretical teaching across agriculture programmes, including areas such as machinery, arable farming, and livestock production, using industry experience to enhance learning.
- Student Development & Progress: Support, guide, and mentor students to achieve their potential, monitoring progress, providing tutorials, and delivering pastoral support to promote achievement, confidence, and progression.
- Assessment & Quality Assurance: Assess learner work against awarding body standards, maintain accurate records, contribute to verification and moderation processes, and support continuous improvement through quality reviews and learner feedback.
- Curriculum Development & Industry Engagement: Contribute to the development of schemes of work and learning resources, ensuring curriculum content reflects current agricultural practices and incorporates employer and vocational opportunities.
- Safe, Inclusive & Professional Learning Environment: Maintain engaging and safe learning environments on the college farm and in classrooms, work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and college policies at all times.
About You
- Qualifications & Subject Expertise: Relevant Level 3 (or higher) vocational qualification in the specialist area, GCSE English and Maths, and a recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve), supported by recent industry experience and strong vocational knowledge.
- Teaching, Learning & Learner Development: Understanding of how education and training supports progression into employment and further study, with the ability to motivate, engage, and inspire learners while contributing to an aspirational learning culture.
- Communication & Organisational Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, effective planning and time management, and confidence using Microsoft Office and digital learning technologies.
- Professionalism & Working Practices: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality, and build effective professional relationships.
