About The Role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Uniformed Public Services to join our Sport department at The Bedford College Group. As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Learning Delivery: Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons across a range of programmes and levels, adapting to individual learner needs and ensuring engaging, inclusive and safe learning environments.
  • Assessment, Monitoring & Learner Progress: Assess work effectively, carry out verification/moderation, track progress, provide reports and take timely action to ensure learners meet required standards, deadlines and behavioural expectations.
  • Curriculum Development & Vocational Enrichment: Contribute to curriculum innovation, create new learning materials, plan vocational opportunities (e.g., employer links, work experience) and support the development of new courses and funding‑aligned programmes.
  • Administration, Quality & Team Collaboration: Complete all course administration accurately and on time, participate in meetings, implement quality processes, organise student surveys/focus groups and support tutors and assistants within the learning environment.
  • Promotion, Professional Practice & Compliance: Take part in marketing activities, interviews and events, uphold safeguarding, EDI and health & safety duties, and undertake any additional responsibilities required by the Programme Area or senior leadership.

About You

  • Qualifications & Professional Requirements: Degree in a relevant subject, GCSE‑level English and Maths, and a Certificate in Education (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Teaching, Training & Assessment Experience: Successful experience teaching, training and assessing young people/adults across Levels 1–3, with strong marking/assessment skills across multiple awarding bodies.
  • Digital Skills, Inclusivity & Professional Standards: Confident user of Microsoft Office, experienced working with diverse groups and committed to promoting equality, diversity and consistently high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Communication, Teamwork & Organisational Skills: Effective communicator across all channels, able to work professionally as part of a team, uphold organisational values and maintain excellent organisation to meet deadlines.
  • Safeguarding, Flexibility & Ongoing Development: Committed to safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries, willing to update skills continuously, flexible in working times and locations and aware of relevant health & safety requirements.
