Job Description:

Role: Estates and Facilities Assistant

Location: Tresham College – Kettering Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between Β£25,467 and Β£27,519 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 40 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Estates and Facilities Assistant to join our Estates and Facilities department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Estates and Facilities Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Facilities & Security Operations – Ensure the safety and security of college premises through patrols, CCTV monitoring, alarm checks, and enforcing student conduct and ID checks.
  • Maintenance & Groundskeeping – Carry out minor repairs, maintain building systems, and keep grounds clean and presentable, including seasonal tasks like snow and ice clearance.
  • Support Services & Portering – Manage deliveries, room setups, recycling, and internal moves, while responding to online requests and supporting events and exams.
  • Compliance & Driving Duties – Perform statutory checks (e.g. fire alarms, Legionella), manage car parks, and drive college vehicles in line with insurance and safety requirements.
  • Professional Standards & Flexibility – Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies, while being adaptable to work across campuses, weekends, and varied shifts as needed.

About you:

  • Experience & Interpersonal Skills – Background in working with the public and young people, with the ability to manage a range of situations calmly and respectfully, maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Teamwork & Initiative – Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, contributing positively to team efforts and supporting colleagues effectively.
  • Communication & Conduct – Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive, reliable, and punctual approach to work and issue resolution.
  • Flexibility & Mobility – Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and across multiple sites, with access to a vehicle and a clean, valid driving licence.
