Location: Central Bedfordshire College

Role: Hairdressing & Barbering Teacher

Salary & Benefits: Salary between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications. 45 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and leisure discounts, and access to professional development opportunities.

Hours & Contract: 18.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Permanent, full-time. Right to Work UK based contract. Must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship not available.

About The Role: We are seeking a Hairdressing & Barbering Teacher to join the Hair & Beauty Therapy department.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high‑quality teaching across Beauty Therapy programmes, adapting to individual learner needs and creating engaging, inclusive learning experiences.
  • Assess, verify and monitor student work in line with awarding body standards, ensuring deadlines are met and progress is recorded and actioned.
  • Contribute to internal verification and quality processes, develop learning materials, and maintain updated industry knowledge through CPD.
  • Support learners to achieve their potential, promote positive behaviour and coordinate with support staff to enhance the learning experience.
  • Manage administrative tasks, communicate progress and concerns, and uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety and professional development requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification with assessor/IQA credentials (or willingness to achieve), GCSE Maths & English, and commitment to CPD, safeguarding and EDI training.
  • Strong background in the beauty industry with recent teaching and assessment experience at FE, and knowledge of awarding bodies such as City & Guilds.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver effective lessons, adapt to diverse learners, manage behaviour and create inclusive, supportive and engaging learning environments.
  • Highly organised with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to track progress, meet deadlines and collaborate with teams and employers.
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality and professionalism, with flexibility, willingness to travel and continuously update skills and knowledge.
