Role: Creative Industries Technician

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Hours/Weeks: 37 Hours | 52 Weeks Per Year

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £27,717 and £32,515 Per Annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications; 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays; People’s pension; Retail and Leisure Discounts; excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Creative Industries Technician to join our Creative Art’s department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Creative Industries Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Technical Support & Teaching Assistance – Provide hands-on support to lecturers and learners, preparing equipment and assisting with practical sessions across creative disciplines.
  • Equipment & Resource Management – Maintain, repair, and manage specialist equipment, stock, and booking systems to ensure resources are safe, functional, and industry-ready.
  • Studio & Learning Environment – Set up and maintain professional, industry-standard studios and workspaces that support high-quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance – Implement risk assessments, COSHH procedures, and safe systems of work, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding standards.
  • Learner Support & Collaboration – Guide students in using equipment and software, support inclusive learning, and contribute to events, projects, and wider departmental activities.

About You

  • Qualifications & Training – Level 2/3 in Media, IT or Creative fields with GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve), plus commitment to safeguarding, EDI, First Aid and Health & Safety training.
  • Technical Knowledge & Experience – Practical experience using creative digital equipment and editing software, with awareness of safe working practices, risk assessments and industry workflows.
  • Creative & Learning Support Skills – Ability to maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues and support engaging, professional learning environments for a diverse range of learners.
  • Communication & Teamwork – Strong organisational and communication skills, able to work independently and collaboratively while building positive relationships with staff and students.
  • Professionalism & Flexibility – Proactive, reliable and adaptable, committed to safeguarding, CPD and supporting wider college activities across departments and events.
