Role: Teacher – Law
Location: The Corby Sixth Form
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Teacher of Law to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching & Subject Specialism – Deliver high‑quality lessons in Law or Sociology, motivating students, developing their knowledge and skills, and contributing to strong retention and achievement outcomes.
  • Planning, Assessment & Curriculum – Plan and prepare engaging lessons, assess and record progress promptly, provide constructive feedback, produce progress reports, and support ongoing curriculum development.
  • Enrichment & Student Experience – Organise subject‑related extracurricular opportunities such as guest speakers, trips and visits, and foster a positive, curious and enthusiastic learning environment.
  • Professional Duties & Representation – Participate in performance review and staff development, maintain Health & Safety standards, contribute to parents’ evenings, open evenings and other promotional events.
  • College‑Wide Responsibilities & Compliance – Support cross‑campus duties including ID checks, exam invigilation and key events, while upholding safeguarding, EDI, Health & Safety and continuous training requirements.

About You

  • Qualifications & Subject Expertise – Degree in a relevant subject, teaching qualification (Certificate in Education or equivalent), GCSE‑level English and Maths, and up‑to‑date knowledge of subject content, syllabus and teaching methods.
  • Teaching Experience & Performance – Experience teaching A‑Level in Sixth Form or FE settings with proven success, strong ILT use in teaching, and a consistent record of delivering high‑quality, engaging learning experiences.
  • Professional Skills & Working Style – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, adapt to change, handle sensitive data confidentially, and maintain high expectations for students and staff.
  • Teamwork, Values & Student Focus – Strong team contributor committed to student success, equality and diversity, continuous improvement, and promoting a positive image of the Sixth Form within the college and local community.
  • Safeguarding, Flexibility & Ongoing Development – Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with young people, commitment to safeguarding, willingness to update skills, work flexibly across locations, follow H&S requirements, and pursue ongoing professional development.

The Corby Sixth Form offers a wide range of subjects and courses, including A-level subjects like maths, English Literature, sciences, humanities, and languages, as well as Diploma courses in areas like business, health & social care, and more.
