Location: Shuttleworth College – Old Warden

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £28,483 and £34,419 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 40 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Estates and Facilities Coordinator to join our Estates and Facilities department at The Bedford College Group. As an Estates and Facilities Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Role Purpose: Deliver a full range of Estates & Facilities services to maintain safe, secure, and compliant college environments, supporting the aims and vision of The Bedford College Group.
  • Operational Duties: Oversee site security, portering, minor maintenance, grounds upkeep, statutory checks via Smartlog, waste disposal, and driving college vehicles.
  • Coordination & Leadership: Act as first point of contact on-site, allocate Helpdesk tasks, monitor operational issues, mentor team members, and ensure adherence to shift instructions and compliance policies.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Manage physical security systems (CCTV, alarms), car park operations, cleaning audits, identity card checks, and maintain accurate records for statutory and safety compliance.
  • Statutory Duties: Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and health & safety standards; participate in training and development to maintain compliance and professional standards.

About you:

  • Qualifications: GCSE Maths and English (A–C) or equivalent; Level 2 vocational qualification; First Aid at Work (or willingness to obtain); willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Knowledge & Experience: Substantial experience in Estates & Facilities or similar operational role; supervisory experience; understanding of modern facilities management expectations; experience working with the public and young people.
  • Core Skills: Ability to work independently, plan and prioritise tasks, resolve problems creatively, communicate effectively (oral and written), and mentor team members; IT literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Values & Attributes: Flexible approach to hours, strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and ability to collaborate internally and externally; commitment to safeguarding and equality.
  • Additional Requirements: Full clean manual driving licence, access to a vehicle, ability to work across sites, and availability for contact at short notice.
