Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £41,086 and £47,971 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

  • Provide Financial Insights – Analyse management data to support Campus Principals and Directors in making informed decisions for curriculum services.
  • Deliver Management Accounting Services – Prepare accurate reports for monthly reviews, senior leadership meetings, and business development initiatives.
  • Support Budgeting & Year-End Processes – Assist with annual budget setting, forecasting, and financial year-end accounts using statistical analysis and trends.
  • Ensure Accuracy & Compliance – Monitor variances, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and communicate financial regulations effectively.
  • Contribute to Strategic Development – Participate in financial strategy implementation, staff training, and assigned projects while upholding safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards.

About you:

  • Finance Qualifications – Part-qualified CIMA (or equivalent) with GCSE English and Maths; strong understanding of financial regulations and ethical practices.
  • Analytical & Technical Expertise – Skilled in Excel for complex data analysis, variance monitoring, and summarising detailed financial information.
  • Management Accounting Experience – Proven ability to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes; experience engaging with budget holders and influencing decisions.
  • Professional & Organisational Skills – Works accurately under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and communicates effectively with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Values-Driven & Flexible – Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, commitment to safeguarding and compliance, and willingness to travel and adapt working hours.

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
