Location: Brooks Hair & Beauty

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

  • Teaching, Assessment & Verification: Prepare, deliver, assess and internally verify Hairdressing and Barbering programmes across levels, ensuring compliance with awarding‑body standards and meeting all assessment deadlines.
  • Learner Support & Progression: Guide and support learners through academic reviews, progress monitoring and timely intervention, helping them achieve their potential and maintain high standards of behaviour.
  • Curriculum Development & Innovative Practice: Create schemes of work, develop engaging learning materials, implement vocational opportunities (e.g., employer links, work experience) and contribute proactively to curriculum enhancement.
  • Quality Assurance, Administration & Team Collaboration: Maintain accurate records, complete course administration, participate in team meetings, support internal verification processes and plan/participate in trips and department events.
  • Professional Conduct & Compliance: Maintain up‑to‑date industry CPD, promote safe and inclusive learning environments, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and ongoing training responsibilities.

About You

  • Qualifications & Industry Expertise: Level 3 Hairdressing/Barbering qualification, assessor qualification, GCSE‑level English and maths (or willingness to achieve), and recent industry updating with proven experience working in the sector.
  • Teaching Readiness & Professional Development: Willingness to work toward a Certificate in Education, strong understanding of current industry developments, and commitment to continuous skills and knowledge updating.
  • Inclusive, Learner‑Focused Practice: Experience supporting diverse learners, promoting equality and diversity, monitoring progress, preparing schemes of work/lesson plans and demonstrating strong, adaptable teaching and behaviour‑management skills.
  • Professional Skills, Organisation & Team Contribution: Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, ability to meet deadlines, influence at all levels, contribute positively to team objectives and uphold College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty).
  • Safeguarding, Flexibility & Professional Conduct: Committed to safeguarding and maintaining appropriate boundaries, able to travel across locations, work flexibly, uphold high professional standards and follow all relevant health & safety requirements.
