About The Role
We are currently seeking an Emotional Literacy Support Facilitator to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group. As an Emotional Literacy Support Facilitator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Haven Management & Safe Environment – Manage the Haven provision, providing a safe, structured and supportive space that promotes positive behaviour, independence and social development for learners with SEND and EHCPs.
- ELSA Interventions & Mentoring – Plan and deliver targeted ELSA‑informed 1:1 and small‑group interventions and mentoring to build emotional literacy, regulation, resilience and social skills.
- Social Skills & Relationship Development – Support learners to develop friendships, communication, conflict resolution and collaborative skills through structured activities and guided interaction.
- Enrichment, Events & Community Engagement – Plan and lead inclusive, risk‑assessed in‑Haven activities and termly off‑site social events to enhance independence, confidence and community participation.
- Collaboration, Monitoring & Compliance – Work closely with curriculum, ALS, pastoral teams, parents and external agencies, maintain accurate records, evaluate impact, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and CPD requirements.
About You
- Qualifications & Professional Readiness – Level 3 qualification (A Levels or equivalent), GCSE English and maths (A–C/4+), with ELSA qualification or willingness to achieve, and strong commitment to professional development.
- SEND, FE & Safeguarding Knowledge – Sound understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, post‑16 education, safeguarding, equality, diversity and confidentiality, with experience supporting learners with SEND in an FE or related setting.
- Learner Support & Relationship Building – Skilled in one‑to‑one support, maintaining professional boundaries, producing high‑quality reports and promoting positive engagement, wellbeing and learning outcomes.
- Organisation, IT & Collaboration – Excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, able to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, work under pressure and collaborate effectively with teaching, support staff and external agencies.
- Professionalism, Flexibility & Values – Self‑motivated and adaptable, committed to creating a welcoming supportive environment, upholding College reputation, safeguarding responsibilities, flexible working patterns and cross‑site working.
