Location: Tresham College – Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £27,717 and £32,515 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 40 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking an Additional Learning Support (ALS) Advisor to join our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

  • Role Purpose: Provide tailored support for students with SEND by creating individual support plans, mentoring learners, and promoting inclusive practices across the College.
  • Planning & Delivery: Develop and share support plans, review strategies with students, guide staff on SEND approaches, and conduct classroom observations to ensure effective implementation.
  • Collaboration & Engagement: Build strong professional relationships with students and staff, participate in marketing events (Open Days, parents’ evenings), and provide advice on additional support services.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEND processes and inclusive practice in FE, and contribute to the enhancement of teaching, learning, and assessment quality.
  • Statutory Duties: Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and health & safety standards; engage in ongoing training and development to maintain compliance and professional expertise.

About You

  • Qualifications: Level 2 in Maths and English; relevant Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Knowledge & Experience: Understanding of SEND Code of Practice (2014), safeguarding, equality and diversity; experience supporting young people with SEND in FE settings and liaising with curriculum teams and external agencies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT systems; ability to produce professional reports and support plans; strong administrative and record‑keeping skills; understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent communication (verbal, written, telephone), organisational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritise workload, work under pressure, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Values & Attributes: Positive and adaptable attitude; commitment to safeguarding and professional boundaries; willingness to work across sites, travel as required, and maintain continuous professional development; access to own transport.
