Overview
The role is in place to facilitate our committed and well organised SENDCOs to provide effective provision for the learning and teaching of pupils with Special Educational Needs with the Nottingham City based schools of the Trust.
This is a temporary role and will be in addition to your current role. Release time for this role is 1 day per week.
Responsibilities
- To ensure that funding decisions for children with significant SEN are fair, agreed and that the process is transparent. Supporting the moderation process by visiting all schools at least half termly to see identified children and their provision and needs.
- To maintain, review and develop working practices which follow agreed SEN policy and protocols.
- To support colleagues with the HLN process
- To keep up to date with and disseminate new initiatives and good practice.
- To Co-chair the OLoL SENDCO Steering group and support setting agenda and direction of Trust SENCo Networks.
- Attend relevant training.
- To liaise with the Family Head Teachers and attend Hub meetings when relevant.
- To liaise with all Nottingham City school SENDCOs.
- To develop future links with Children’s Services, parents, and the local community.
Qualifications
- You Will
- Hold the National Award for SENDCO Qualification
- Be a strong leader, who is passionate and committed to providing the highest standards of provision for SEND pupils with a wide breadth of needs.
- Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to raising standards.
- Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, with all members of the school and wider community, including parents and outside agencies.
- Have excellent classroom management skills and be proficient in planning, assessment and target setting.
- Be dedicated to their own professional development.
- Be willing to be involved in the corporate life of the school, supporting the informal as well as the formal curriculum.
