We are seeking a highly‑organised, detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to support our finance and operations team across two businesses. This is a part‑time role with flexible working hours (equivalent to 3 days per week).

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records using Xero.
  • Process purchase invoices and payments.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Raise and issue sales invoices for recurring and miscellaneous income, prepare monthly revenue reports.
  • Credit control: ensure tenant accounts are paid in a timely manner, chase arrears and support debt recovery processes.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Handle the full payroll cycle using Xero payroll, including calculating wages, deductions and pensions.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Assist with monthly management accounts, audit preparations and end‑of‑year accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts promptly.
  • Admin tasks including mailbox scanning, holiday tracking and supplier checks.

Experience and qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within an accounting department.
  • Proficiency in Xero is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • AAT qualification or equivalent would be an advantage but is not essential.
