Join the BBC World Service as a Senior Tester, helping deliver trusted, impartial news to 1.5 billion people worldwide. You will lead testing across complex, scalable platforms, shaping how quality is embedded from design through to delivery. This is a high impact role where you will influence engineering practices and ensure audiences can access reliable content across languages, devices and environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the testing strategy for a defined product area, embedding quality across the full software lifecycle.
- Review and assess new features, define test plans and collaborate with engineers to ensure performance and reliability.
- Design, build and maintain automated test suites to support delivery at scale.
- Act as a quality advocate, influencing best practice and driving early defect prevention.
- Coach and mentor others, contributing to a strong learning culture within the team.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in manual and automated testing, from unit tests to integration and browser tests as well as performing hands-on, exploratory and regression testing.
- Experience in running accessibility testing in line with WCAG and BBC guidelines.
- Experience working closely with a multi-discipline agile team, including Product Managers, UX Designers, and Software Engineering Team Leads.
- Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript and ReactJS.
- Experience with writing test approaches, raising and triaging issues in JIRA and issuing weekly and final test summary reports to key stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Grafana, AWS and AWS tools.
- Cypress, Playwright.
