As an Assistant Producer (AP) with Bitesize for Teachers (formerly BBC Teach), you will play a key role in delivering the highest quality classroom video material for primary and secondary schools in the UK, and in contributing innovations and improvements to our digital platform for teachers.
Responsibilities
- Commission independent production companies to create high‑quality classroom video material for primary and secondary schools, working through the full commissioning lifecycle.
- Research curriculum objectives and write commissioning briefs.
- Liaise with production companies during production and publish final resources online.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, contributing to the creative and editorial direction.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including subject specialist teachers, to maximise the impact and uphold the highest standards of accuracy and impartiality.
- Deliver improvements to the teachers’ website, ensuring digital resources are positioned attractively and accessibly for UK primary and secondary school teachers.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to establish effective short‑ and long‑term relationships with a wide range of people, including internal colleagues and external partners from independent production companies, partners, and teacher groups.
- Strong digital skillset with technical proficiency in web content management systems and handling digital content assets.
- Experience in creating first‑class content for schools in the UK and accurately researching curriculum requirements.
- Good knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and compliance processes for formal education content for children and young people.
- Strong planning and organising skills, with the ability to react positively to change and shifting priorities.
Desirable
- Experience using statistics and audience data to inform content decisions.
- Practical experience of television or online video production, or experience in an equivalent medium.
- Experience writing clear and concise material for briefs, scripts, or digital platforms.
- Awareness of financial responsibility and budgets.
- Interest in curriculum topics including media literacy, citizenship, and life skills.
