You will be responsible for leading multiple teams across these locations, managing a network of Duty Security Managers and operational staff who provide 24/7 security response and guarding services. The successful candidate will take command and control of major or critical incidents at an operational or tactical level, oversee the management and development of security personnel, implement and review operational procedures, and act as the primary interface between BBC Security and its internal and external partners. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role within the BBC's national security operations, ensuring safety, resilience, and professionalism across all English regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation and continual development of security staff across the assigned English regions.
  • Manage 8 x Duty Managers and oversee the management of the security officers.
  • Act as the first management point of contact for all security incidents within your area.
  • Manage security incidents at Operational (Bronze) or Tactical (Silver) levels.
  • Ensure KPIs and service delivery meet BBC expectations and standards.
  • Maintain and update all regional security procedures, ensuring they reflect current best practice.
  • Manage shift patterns, leave requests, and absence for all staff under your remit.
  • Conduct performance development reviews and regular team meetings.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention of security staff.
  • Support contingency and emergency planning, ensuring preparedness across all operational sites.
  • Develop and embed new systems, policies, and training initiatives on behalf of BBC Security.
  • Liaise closely with partner teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and enhance service delivery.
  • Analyse incident and performance reports, providing accurate and timely updates to senior management.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, hazards, and site restrictions.
  • Ensure all sites have up-to-date safety documentation, inductions, and operational safety plans.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by the BBC Security Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing a team, ideally within a security, policing, or military environment.
  • Strong understanding of incident management, command and control structures, and escalation processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • SIA Door Supervisor licence (essential).
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to work non-routine hours and travel extensively between sites.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dispersed management team.
  • Committed to continuous professional development.
Desirable Criteria
  • Health and Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely) or relevant experience.
  • Level 5 in leadership and management.
  • CSMP level 6.
  • Experience in delivering training or operational briefings.
  • Proven ability to develop and embed new procedures or systems.
  • Demonstrates drive, enthusiasm, and self-motivation.
  • Contributes positively to team culture and operational excellence.
