Are you passionate about supporting women to thrive in life, work and family? As a Social Mobility Coach at The Baytree Centre, you’ll play a key role in empowering women to overcome barriers, build confidence, and progress across our five‑pillar social mobility framework: Employment, Education, Family, Finance and Wellbeing. You’ll join a collaborative, values‑driven team working with over 600 women a year. Success in this role means building strong, trusting relationships, delivering impactful programmes, and supporting women to define and reach their personal and professional goals. This role sits at the heart of our Women’s Service, directly contributing to economic and social inclusion for women and their families.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Programmes – plan, design and deliver programmes (including group and one‑to‑one services) within the five‑pillar framework.
- Partnerships – represent and promote our services; actively seek and build strategic partnerships.
- Information, Advice and Guidance – provide ‘first‑level’ IAG on a range of topics (including employment, education, welfare and benefits, housing) and signpost or refer more complex cases.
- Coaching – provide 1‑2‑1 goal‑oriented coaching support to a caseload of women to help them progress across the five pillars referred to above.
- Client life‑cycle – recruit and retain programme participants; manage participant relationships.
- Monitoring and evaluation – take accurate case notes and record all other information necessary to effectively monitor and evaluate outputs and outcomes; propose and implement improvements.
- Communication and collaboration – communicate openly and constructively with beneficiaries, colleagues, volunteers and partners; make high‑quality, timely contributions to funder reporting.
Qualifications
- Excellent understanding of issues and barriers facing migrant and low‑income women and families.
- Understanding of UK education, employment, welfare benefits, housing and health systems.
- Understanding of Lambeth and the local community (or similar areas and communities).
- Experience of building and nurturing strong and productive working relationships.
- Experience prioritising and managing a complex case load or multiple initiatives.
- Non‑judgemental, patient, friendly and empathetic approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
- Strong level of communication (written and verbal) and listening skills.
- Experience using IT systems for reporting Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Ability to deal with information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload.
- Experience in delivering holistic support to individuals, enabling progression and personal development pathways.
- Proficiency in Arabic, Somali, Portuguese, Spanish or another language commonly spoken in Lambeth is a strong plus.
- Experience advising others, for example: in education, welfare benefits, employment, housing, family matters or other topics.
- Understanding of Safeguarding; Health & Safety; Equality, Diversity & Inclusion legislation.
- Experience of safeguarding.
- Experience managing or coordinating projects and other staff / volunteers.
- Experience working with minority and marginalised groups.
- Experience working on grant funded programmes.
- Experience in the voluntary and community sector.
