About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting women to thrive in life, work and family? As a Social Mobility Coach at The Baytree Centre, you’ll play a key role in empowering women to overcome barriers, build confidence, and progress across our five‑pillar social mobility framework: Employment, Education, Family, Finance and Wellbeing. You’ll join a collaborative, values‑driven team working with over 600 women a year. Success in this role means building strong, trusting relationships, delivering impactful programmes, and supporting women to define and reach their personal and professional goals. This role sits at the heart of our Women’s Service, directly contributing to economic and social inclusion for women and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Deliver Programmes: Plan, create and run group and one‑to‑one services aligned to Baytree’s five‑pillar social mobility model.
  • Provide Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG): Offer first‑level support on topics such as employment, education, benefits, and housing, making referrals where specialist support is needed.
  • Coaching: Provide person‑centred, goal‑focused one‑to‑one coaching to help participants progress across employment, education, family stability, financial capability and wellbeing.
  • Caseload Management: Recruit, engage and retain participants, maintaining high‑quality relationships and ensuring positive beneficiary experiences.
  • Partnership Building: Represent Baytree externally, strengthen community relationships and help develop strategic partnerships.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Maintain accurate case notes, track outcomes and contribute to ongoing improvements and funder reporting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, volunteers and partners, contributing positively to a supportive and inclusive team culture.
  • Safeguarding & Quality: Uphold safeguarding standards, champion equality and inclusion, respect confidentiality and ensure best practice across all aspects of service delivery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong understanding of issues faced by migrant and low‑income women and families.
  • Knowledge of the UK education, social care and health systems.
  • Familiarity with Lambeth or similar diverse communities.
  • Experience building productive relationships with beneficiaries and partners.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload or multiple initiatives.
  • Friendly, empathetic, non‑judgmental approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident digital literacy and strong IT skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Able to work independently and prioritise effectively.

Desirable

  • Training or qualifications in coaching or similar fields.
  • IAG qualifications (preferably employment‑related).
  • Knowledge of welfare and benefits (Universal Credit, social housing, PIP/DLA etc.).
  • Understanding of safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion legislation.
  • Experience in safeguarding, project coordination and/or volunteer management.
  • Background in the voluntary or community sector.
  • Experience supporting marginalised or minority groups.
  • Experience working on grant‑funded programmes.
  • Additional languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Somali, French or Arabic is strongly valued in our diverse community.
