At the same time, we are launching an ambitious Data, Digital, AI and Technology Strategy (DDAT) that will fundamentally change how we use insight, technology, automation, AI, and data to improve services, strengthen decision-making, enhance resident experience, and deliver value for money.

We're looking for an exceptional leader to become our next Assistant Director of Strategy, Insight, and Assurance.
This is a new role and will be one of the most influential roles in the organisation.
You will sit at the centre of strategic decision-making, working directly with the Executive Management Team, Boards, senior leaders, regulators, local authority partners, and external stakeholders to help shape the future direction of The Barnet Group.
You will lead and integrate our corporate strategy, business intelligence, regulatory readiness, programme governance, data protection, and corporate health and safety and assurance functions, creating a single line of sight from operational performance to Board assurance.
Most importantly, you will play a leading role in turning our DDAT ambitions into reality.
This is not a traditional assurance role.
We're not looking for someone whose contribution starts and ends with reports, frameworks, and governance papers.
We're looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery.
Someone who can spend the morning helping shape an AI governance framework, challenging performance data, removing barriers to programme delivery, or supporting teams to use insight more effectively, and then walk into a Board meeting and discuss regulatory readiness.
You'll need to be comfortable operating at every level of the organisation.
One day you might be leading preparations for regulatory engagement. The next, you could be helping establish a data-driven performance culture, redesigning programme governance, building organisational capability in AI adoption, or working alongside colleagues to solve a complex operational challenge.
This is a role for a leader who enjoys making things happen.

What you'll lead
You will have responsibility for:
- Corporate strategy and policy.
- Regulatory readiness and assurance.
- Business intelligence, performance, and insight.
- Data governance and information governance.
- AI governance and organisational adoption of AI.
- Corporate programmes and transformation governance.
- Corporate health and safety and assurance.
- Board and Executive assurance reporting.
You'll help ensure that decisions across the Group are informed by high-quality evidence, robust controls, and a clear understanding of risk, opportunity, and performance.

- Strong experience of strategy, assurance, performance, insight, regulatory environments, or governance.

- Credibility with Boards, Executive teams, regulators, and senior stakeholders.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills.
- Intellectual curiosity, political awareness, and sound judgement.
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic leadership and hands-on delivery.
