The team behind The Barn at Pengelly in Cornwall are seeking an experienced Wedding Venue Manager to oversee the daily operations of a new wedding venue with on-site accommodation we are opening in Devon. We are a multi-award-winning wedding venue bringing our proven model to a brand new exclusive use venue just outside of Exeter towards Newton Abbot. This is an exciting ground floor opportunity to join the team before we open our doors, working directly with the owners to shape the venue from the very beginning.
We are looking for a highly capable, self-driven Venue Manager to lead day to day operations, coordinate weddings, manage our supplier and client relationships, and build the foundations for a growing team. This is not a role for someone who needs hand holding. You will often be working independently, making decisions with confidence and bringing genuine initiative to everything you do. For the right person, this role offers exceptional scope for progression as the business scales and the team expands in 2027 and beyond.
Duties
- Coordinating all aspects of weddings from contract to day of delivery, ensuring every couple has an outstanding experience
- Conducting showrounds for prospective couples, converting enquiries into bookings
- Scheduling and overseeing our launch, open days and wedding fairs, managing all associated logistics
- Managing event schedules and ensuring seamless operational delivery
- Overseeing rotas for the housekeeping and bar teams
- Ordering stock and managing inventory accurately
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including gathering public liability insurance certificates
- Managing client communications day to day, acting as the primary point of contact
- Creating and posting content across social media channels to grow the venue's online presence
- Handling general team administration and supporting the owner with reporting
As the business grows into 2027, you will take on increasing responsibility for building and leading a wider venue team.
What We Are Looking For
- A minimum of three years experience within the wedding industry, including experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- A confident, polished communicator who can represent the venue to couples, suppliers, and guests with warmth and professionalism
- Someone who thrives working independently and brings genuine problem solving ability to the role
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
- A proactive, hands on approach and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
- Comfortable with social media and able to create engaging content that reflects a premium brand aesthetic
- Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to remain calm under pressure on event days
The Role Details
- Location: Just outside Exeter towards Newton Abbot, Devon (confidential)
- Hours: Full time, including weekends as required by the event schedule
- Reporting directly to the venue owner
- Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience
- Start Date: Flexible but ideally from July onwards
