A growing and well-established MEP Fit Out Contractor is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding design team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on fast-paced commercial fit out projects across London and the South East, while benefiting from flexible hybrid working and genuine career progression. The business delivers high-quality CAT A & CAT B commercial fit out projects alongside refurbishment schemes across offices, retail and high-end commercial environments. With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking for someone who can play a key role within the pre-construction and delivery teams.

As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing mechanical design elements from concept through to completion, ensuring all designs are technically compliant, commercially viable and delivered within programme requirements. You will work closely with project managers, commercial teams, consultants and clients to develop and coordinate mechanical building services designs across multiple projects.

Responsibilities
  • Produce and review mechanical designs for commercial fit out projects
  • Carry out HVAC design calculations and equipment selections
  • Coordinate designs with electrical, architectural and structural teams
  • Attend design meetings with clients, consultants and subcontractors
  • Support pre-construction and tender submissions
  • Review technical submittals and ensure compliance with specifications
  • Assist project delivery teams throughout installation and commissioning phases
  • Mentor junior engineers where required
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the M&E / Building Services sector
  • Strong commercial fit out or refurbishment project experience
  • Good understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficient with industry software and technical documentation
  • HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering preferred
