A typical day in the life of a Commis Chef:

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients according to recipes or as directed by the Head Chef.
  • Support the kitchen team in cooking and plating dishes, ensuring that they meet Bannatyne's high standards for presentation and taste.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to all food hygiene and safety regulations. This includes washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and ensuring that all kitchen areas are kept tidy.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing stock levels, including receiving deliveries, checking for quality and quantity, and storing items properly.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen, particularly during peak times.
  • Take advantage of training and development opportunities to enhance your culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to a positive dining experience for Bannatyne's members and guests by consistently delivering high-quality food and service.

  • L2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
