In this role you architect and own a new high-profile platform blending web apps, distributed services and distributed ledger tech. You lead a hands-on, growing team of full-stack engineers, shaping the technical direction and code quality. You design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems with clear APIs and governance. You collaborate with business stakeholders to translate processes into a technical roadmap and drive engineering excellence across CI/CD, testing, and observability. You stay abreast of digital assets trends to inform platform evolution and production readiness.

Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical architecture for a new platform combining web apps, distributed services and distributed ledger tech
- Lead and grow a hands-on team of full-stack engineers, setting direction, mentoring, and coding
- Design and build front-end/back-end components and integrate with smart contracts and ledger layer
- Define and evolve architecture for usability, scalability, performance, security and resilience
- Shape platform integration with internal/external parties via well-documented APIs aligned with enterprise standards
- Partner with product owners, business analysts, scrum masters and senior stakeholders to translate processes into a technical roadmap
- Drive engineering excellence across automated testing, CI/CD, code review, observability and secure-by-design practices
- Represent platform in architecture governance forums and coordinate with platform/security/infrastructure/enterprise teams to scale from MVP to production
- Stay current with digital assets and distributed ledger developments to evaluate value for the platform and business
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in financial services technology with senior technical leadership of complex platforms
- Hands-on architect and engineer who writes production code while leading teams
- Delivery experience on blockchain or distributed ledger projects, including smart contract development and security/testing/operations
- Broad full-stack experience across multiple back-end and front-end frameworks, with ability to select appropriate tools
- Deep knowledge of distributed/microservice architectures, modular front-end architectures, reactive UX and API-first design
- Experience designing for high availability, scalability and resilience including containerised and cloud-native deployment
- Strong command of modern CI/CD, automated testing strategies and DevOps practices
- Experience in Agile environments with balance between delivery pressure and architectural health
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management to influence senior technology and business leaders
