hackajob is partnering directly with BNY Mellon to hire for this role. We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Vice President, Full-Stack Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role is located in Manchester.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Drive the evolution of the Enterprise Workflow Engine into a next-generation, multi-agent orchestration platform enabling scalable, intelligent automation across the organisation through BPMN, DMN, and AI-driven execution frameworks.
  • Lead the design and delivery of Workflow Studio and designer capabilities, providing intuitive, AI-assisted tooling for engineers and business users to model, configure, and deploy workflows, decisions, forms, and reusable orchestration components.
  • Architect and deliver advanced platform capabilities, including multi-tenancy, modular and composable components, and abstraction of the underlying workflow engine (e.g., Camunda) to enable extensibility, portability, and enterprise-scale orchestration.
  • Drive delivery excellence across workflow and decisioning platforms, embedding observability, resilience, auditability, and performance at scale, while establishing engineering standards across CI/CD, testing, security, and data architecture.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Deep hands-on expertise in modern engineering stacks, including Java (v17/21), Spring Boot, and building scalable, secure, API-first services combined with the ability to set engineering direction and standards across the platform.
  • Strong experience in workflow and decision engineering, covering BPMN 2.0 orchestration, DMN modelling, and enterprise workflow engines (e.g., Camunda), with the ability to define the strategic evolution toward multi-agent and event-driven orchestration architectures.
  • Full-stack engineering capability with architectural ownership, including front-end (Angular or equivalent), middleware/event streaming (Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ), and relational data platforms (Oracle/MySQL), enabling end-to-end platform design and optimisation.
  • Proven track record of delivering production-grade platforms, embedding engineering excellence across test automation, CI/CD, observability, resilience, and traceability while driving continuous improvement of SDLC practices at scale.
  • Hands-on technical leader who can actively contribute to solution design and critical builds, while defining strategy, mentoring senior engineers, and scaling high-performing teams aligned to enterprise platform outcomes.
