About the role:
Reports to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager. As a Manager I / Manager II, you will be responsible for the leadership of a team or project, driving process improvement, operational excellence and contributing towards broader team strategies. This will be achieved through leading, motivating and coaching a team that is focused on outcomes, being open-minded and embracing change whilst valuing diverse perspectives and channelling a 'can-do' attitude. You will support business and people growth through connecting and collaborating across the business to enable Aztec's future ambitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the lead project manager for driving day-to-day processes within a team to accurately deliver client accounting needs and ensure accurate data is maintained.
- Demonstrate increasing commercial awareness and application, controlling areas within a team that can influence gross margin (e.g. recruitment decisions, promotions and succession planning) and identifying opportunities with clients for further work.
- Identify opportunities for improving and evolving reporting suite building a strong, collaborative relationship to ensure regular feedback from stakeholders and facilitate improvement.
- Review all aspects of accounting matters for a limited portfolio of fund structures including acting as a first reviewer on equalisations and carry calculations.
- Act as a higher authority on day-to-day accounting and administration queries and act as 4-eyes signatory on accounting matters, ensuring that company policy and professional and regulatory guidelines are adhered to and that a professional quality service is provided to clients and outside contacts.
- Review the bookkeeping for a range of funds, management companies and associated fund structures.
- Manage and review the completion of audit queries.
- Ensure ISAE compliance is adhered to, making sure all risk events are recorded and acted upon promptly.
- Review the preparation and reconciliation of periodic direct and indirect tax returns, and liaise with foreign tax advisors, to the extent relevant.
- Supervise and assist in the training, development and the appraisal process for members of staff.
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrable industry experience supported by a relevant professional qualification (ACCA or ACA).
- Sound technical financial services knowledge, Real Asset fund specific experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Evidence of accounting responsibility for a client relationship(s) or a significant part of a major client relationship.
- Experience in accounts prep, financial statements prep, bookkeeping, VAT returns, journal entries is essential.
- People management and team leadership experience including performance management, appraisals, feedback and coaching is essential.
- An excellent communication, professional, dynamic and pragmatic approach.
