Overview

Avenues is a community-focused workplace where people feel valued and can grow. We are looking for an Assistant Service Manager to join our team, working at two Bromley services – Widmore Road and Gable Mews. Drivers with a full UK driving licence are preferred and you must be willing to travel between the two services.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Motivate and inspire the team to provide outstanding support through effective training, coaching, and leading by example.
  • Assist the Service Manager to lead and manage services supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, behaviours that challenge and epilepsy; knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support is advantageous as one service uses this framework.
  • Provide around 16 hours of admin work per week, including management and coordination of support hours, creating rotas, assisting with recruitment, managing the staff team, shift leading and maintaining records.
  • Work alongside the Support Worker team providing 24-hour hands-on support, including personal care, cooking, cleaning and administering medication.
  • Support the Service Manager with the smooth running of the services, including rostering, support plans, staff deployment and budgeting, while ensuring health, safety and wellbeing of people using the service.
  • Engage with sector regulatory bodies and stay informed about relevant legislation; contribute to delivering a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong leadership and administrative skills; ability to recruit, develop and manage staff fairly and consistently.
  • Ability to promote person-centred approaches and foster inclusive community links.
  • Knowledge of sector standards and relevant legislation; understanding of regulatory frameworks.
  • Desirable: Full UK driving licence (not essential).
  • Experience with rostering, support plans, and service budgeting is advantageous.
