The Avenue Children’s Centre is looking to appoint a motivated and proactive Housekeeper to join its caring team of staff on a part-time basis and support in maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout this vibrant Early Years setting, helping to ensure a clean, safe and hygienic environment for children.
Working Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 52 weeks of the year. Required: July 2026.
The Avenue Children’s Centre is a vibrant and friendly pre-school where staff are dedicated to creating a safe and exciting place for children, aged three months to three (plus) years, to play, learn and thrive. Located in the charming garrison town of Warminster, Wiltshire, we focus on each child as a unique individual to help them achieve their goals. In January 2023, we were proud to retain our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and were praised for helping children to flourish at our welcoming and supportive setting, which is open from 7.45am until 6.00pm, fifty weeks of the year. We also offer a Breakfast, Holiday and After School club for children aged three to eleven years. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education.
Deep cleaning duties will be carried out in nursery rooms, play areas, toilets / changing areas and high-contact surfaces (including door handles and toys), ensuring all equipment remains free from germs and meets strict health and safety standards. Laundry management (washing of bedding, flannels, bibs, towels) and assisting with keeping kitchen and meal areas (tables and chairs) clean and tidy will be a daily requirement, as well as ensuring cots/sleep mats are properly maintained and cleaned.
We are looking for someone who:
- Can do a job that is physically demanding;
- Is self-motivated, organised and consistent and will ensure the delivery of a safe and clean environment for children;
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of staff and children;
- Is a strong team player who is proactive, can use their own initiative and is able to support colleagues within a small team;
- Has a positive and flexible ‘can-do’ attitude;
- Takes pride in doing a job well and to a high standard;
- Has a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements;
- Has previous experience in a similar role.
