This is the job

The Senior IT Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining IT solutions, including low-level solution design, within their designated area. Specialising in one or more technology areas, such as .NET, they will adopt the AA’s chosen delivery methodology to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective solutions. Additionally, they will exemplify delivery excellence for junior team members and partner resources, offering technical guidance and reviews while continuously striving for process improvement.

What will I be doing?

  • Collaborating with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements and design high-quality technical solutions
  • Providing and challenge delivery estimates for changes and projects
  • Delivering functionality that meets requirements within timescales and budget, including unit test case definition and execution
  • Providing Level 3 Application Support, including out-of-hours support when necessary
  • Ensuring solutions comply with architectural standards and coding standards, recommending new or reused code as appropriate
  • Modelling best practices and support junior team members, consistently exceeding development KPIs
  • Leading code reviews, identify repeating issues, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Creating technical documentation in line with SDLC and documentation standards
  • Leading Continuous Integration delivery in an Agile environment using Azure DevOps/VSTS/TFS
  • Identifying and report on Key Performance Indicators for Waterfall and Agile teams

What do I need?

  • In-depth understanding of the full Software Delivery Lifecycle, ideally in both waterfall and agile models
  • Experience in developing and deploying IT solutions in complex, multi-project, multi-system environments, aligned with multiple delivery methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience in the timely delivery of medium to large-scale development programmes and project
  • Beneficial experience in delivering with vendor teams, ideally with an offshore component
  • Prior management, supervisory, or team leadership experience is advantageous
  • In-depth technical knowledge of relevant technologies, such as .NET, JS, SQL Server, etc
  • A diligent, data-driven approach, committed to continual assessment and improvement
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to apply knowledge to new technologies
  • Comfort in objectively challenging peers and superiors to ensure adherence to quality standards, including vendors
  • Pragmatic and adaptable to the business\’s needs, while maintaining robustness and integrity
